PAINTINGS

paintings

We specialize in paintings by masters or their entourage between the XVI and XIX centuries done in oil, tempera, watercolor or charcoal, wood on wood, metal and copper, and polychrome wooden sculptures. They are mostly religious themes (biblical, Madonna and Child with Saints, Crucifixion), but also mythological landscapes, seascapes, still-lifes and portraits. Very often we have paintings up to the nineteenth century Liberty period. The authors of these works are mainly Tuscan artists (Galileo Chini - Plinio Nomellini and post-Macchiaioli macchiaioli),  but we pay some special attention also to French paintings, mostly from minor authors of furnishings as well as collecting.

An example of the description adopted for the painting industry that we propose is as follows:

1) FRANCESCO CURRADI, in our opinion by the artist.

2) attributed to FRANCESCO CURRADI: It is our opinion that the work has been performed by the artist, but with some degree of uncertainty.

3) CIRCLE OF FRANCESCO CURRADI: ns. opinion work performed by a non-identified, with data and references associated with that artist. Likely to be a student.

4) workshop of FRANCESCO CURRADI: work carried out by unknown hand, but in the artist's studio, or not made under the direction of the same.

5) followers of FRANCESCO CURRADI: the work of a painter who works in the style of the artist can be a student of another artist as contemporary or nearly so.

6) the manner of FRANCESCO CURRADI: work done in the style of the artist but at later dates.

7) DA FRANCESCO CURRADI: a copy of a known artist performed after the death of this.

8) IN STYLE ...: work performed in the indicated style but much later age.

9) The term signed and / or dated, meaning that what is shown in artist's hand.

10) The term signed and / or date or entering means that, ns. opinion, the above seems added later or in another hand.

11) The size of the paintings show the width first and then more and without taking into account the height of the frame.

12) And 'our practice to specify whether the work was imported under a temporary art in Italy, served to be notified.
